Remember?

A poem dedicated to my dearest companions who made school; a place which once meant nothing, to something that meant a part of my everything

Remember?
The day we first met,
Whereat first, we were silent,
Holding our own sentiment,
The air of the awkward silence,
Which broke through development,

Remember?
How loud we'd laugh out,
Till our stomachs burst out,
Till our eyes would cry out,
How we'd then hold our breath,
To avoid it becoming a mess

Remember?
How one of us would read diligently,
And one of us would fool like crazy,
And close the book that was being read,
So both of us would be on the same thread,
And later regret when our grades turned out dread

Remember?
How we'd go against the rules,
And check whether the teacher was coming any soon,
And rush to the canteen to buy food,
To fill the empty stomach which would growl till noon,
Before being caught by a teacher who'd most probably make us a fool

Remember?
How the teacher would give us tasks,
We'd start off as sedulous,
And then we'd come out as careless,
Then get an earful for being mindless

Remember?
We'd visualise ourselves as better beings,
Setting every best target possible,
As if we'd be invincible,
And then fall to the whispers of the devil,
Hey, we surely were 'invincible'!

Remember?
How we'd get infatuated,
As adolescents get by day,
And overthinking wasted almost half of our day

Remember?
When we'd remind one another,
About homework that needed to be sent sooner or later,
And end up copying each other,
As we procrastinate like no other,
Although we already reminded each other earlier

Remember?
When the teacher would stroll and check all of us,
And there would be odds who obey not among us,
We glanced at each other for a short,
Just to get rid of the anxiousness in the 'scary' draught

Remember?
How you'd plan all possible excuses,
To tell the teacher who could turn in flames,
Walking around each table to look at which students played her 'game',
You'd end up being honest, although you were scared of the aftermath of not playing her game

Remember?
The jokes our teachers would say,
The funny ones were funny,
The slapstick ones were slapstick,
Even so, we'd laugh away anyway,
Cause by teacher's side we stay,
And from her sweet sincere smile become happy we may

Remember?
How our hands would ache,
And our eyes would shake,
Looking at whiteboard notes which were too much to take,
With that little time, we could use to take,
We'd find an alternative,
Silently taking out our forbidden phone's camera to use its advantage

Remember?
How either one of us would cry,
After going through too much to hide,
Either your or my shoulder would be the light in the dark sky

Remember?
The last day we spent,
The experiments we repeatedly read before sitting for the last exam,
The Physics exam which we answered using our dried-out pen,
The alluring smell of that one invigilator,
Who's strolling would make me shiver,
Like a strained bird which was released from a cage,
Spreading its wings in the air releasing all bottled rage,
We gained freedom from school that day,
We bid our last goodbyes and turn of phrase,
We took as many pictures we could,
So that forget not we would,
Hoping; meet again, we could
